Lava has unveiled its plans to enter the tablet market by February, 2012.

S N Rai, Lava International Co-founder and Director said:

“Lava will launch an Android 2.3 based tablet in February for Rs 5,500. It will be made available bundled with a service provider’s connection and will not be available as a standalone device. The tablet will be made available bundled with a service provider's connection and will not be available as a standalone device."

The tablet is expected to sport a 7-inch capacitive touch type display and house a 1GHz processor.

As we all know, the Indian market is flooded with tablets and everybody wants to have one. It will be interesting to see how Lava will match up with rising demand of the market. 

The handset manufacturer who started its journey from S12 also announced that they expect to complete this fiscal year with Rs. 1,000 cr.  revenue.

The company is now looking forward to enter the smartphone market as well. Lava smartphones are expected to hit the market in the March/ April next year. 

Lava International is also looking forward to expanding its business in markets like Africa, Chile and Peru.

Business line reported Mr. S.N Rai as saying:

“We are expecting revenue of Rs 1,000 crore during this financial year. Lava will launch Android based smartphones and 3G Tablet within a couple of months. Our focus will remain on enhancing our research and development capability. Elaborating on the company’s focus on research and development, Mr Rai said that company has been successful in filing two patents and many more are in pipeline."
