Rahul Gandhi asks Sheila, Agarwal to fill party posts
New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi asked Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Delhi Congress chief Jai Prakash Agarwal to fill up party posts in the organisation ahead of the assembly elections around November.
Gandhi met Dikshit and Agarwal at his 12, Akbar Road house in central Delhi. "We had a normal meeting with Rahulji. We have decided to fill the posts of president of manifesto committee, public committee and vice president of Delhi Congress. He asked us to expedite the process for elections," Dikshit told IANS on phone.
Last month, Gandhi met Delhi Congress workers and told them sternly he will not tolerate any indiscipline in the party.
He stressed on bringing more democracy in the party and said that suggestions from party rank and file must be followed while formulating the election strategy.
Expressing serious concern over the ongoing protests in Andhra Pradesh, following the nod for the creation of a separate Telangana State, the Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D Raja said that the Centre must address the genuine concerns of the people and assure them that their interests will be duly protected.
