Militants open fire on police in Kashmir
Srinagar: A group of militants opened fire on a police officer's security guards in south Kashmir's Shopian district Wednesday. Nobody was injured in the attack, police said.
"Militants opened fire at the guards of a deputy superintendent of police in Zainapora market of Shopian district today (Wednesday) afternoon," a police official told IANS.
"The guards fired back in retaliation. Nobody was injured in the incident. The area is being searched for the militants," the official said.
Expressing serious concern over the ongoing protests in Andhra Pradesh, following the nod for the creation of a separate Telangana State, the Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D Raja said that the Centre must address the genuine concerns of the people and assure them that their interests will be duly protected.
