Militants kill two policemen in Srinagar ahead of PM's visit
Srinagar: Two policemen were killed on Saturday by militants in Srinagar's Hari Singh High Street area, three days ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
Using silencer-fitted pistols, the militants carried out near simultaneous attacks at Jehangir Chowk and Sarai Bala, injuring head constable Mohammed Maqbool and constable Nazir Ahmed. While Mabool died on his way to hospital, Nazir Ahmed succumbed to his injuries during surgery.
The Prime Minister will be visiting the Valley on June 25 and 26 to inaugurate the train service between Banihal and Qazigund and a power project in Uri.
India's indigenously designed fighter aircraft, Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, is all set to get the Initial Operational Clearance (IOC II), which would pave the way for its induction into the Indian Air Force.
