Ishrat Jahan case: BJP accuses Congress of trying to gain political points
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stated that Congress is trying to gain political points over the Ishrat Jahan case.
"They are running away from a debate. BJP clearly said they wanted a debate on this. Those people who need it will have to get it. Congress promised to bring it in the first 100 days, rather they are bringing in the last 100 days, and it clearly shows that they are doing it for political reasons and to gain political points," said BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman, after the CBI released its chargesheet in this case.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader MG Vaidya meanwhile expressed surprise over the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) not naming any politician in its chargesheet in the Ishrat Jahan case, and said the law will hopefully take its course and the truth will prevail.
"Initially there were talks about the civil administration people being involved. The name of the Intelligence Bureau officer who was involved is also missing. Not one politician has been named in the chargesheet. The law will hopefully take its course and the truth will prevail," Vaidya said.
