Kolkata: Bengal's industry today welcomed the UPA government's victory at the Lok Sabha elections, saying that it expects the next five years to be stable and friendly.
Industry is happy for the UPA which provided a stable government for the last five years and expected a similar positive trend to continues, Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senior Vice-President Sandipan Chakrabarty told PTI.
"The Left Front which pioneered the Third Front is totally out of the race and will have limited power in opposing Delhi. So reforms which were suffering will now materialise," he said.
Speaking about West Bengal, Chakrabarty said industry will have adopt a wait-and-watch policy as the state may not get a very good support from the Centre.
RPG Enterprises Vice-Chairman Sanjiv Goenka while praising Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said, "It is a Congress and allies wave which is sweeping the nation and West Bengal is no exception."
It is a vote for stability and a vote for continuity, he added.
Dunlop India and Jessop Chairman Pawan K Ruia said the results were an indication to economic revitalisation.
