Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janta Dal today said it will not not support a Congress-led government at the Centre and would like the new government to fulfil the "just" demands of Orissa.
"We have been repeatedly saying that we are not going to support a Congress-led or a BJP-led government at the Centre," BJD chief and Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told reporters here.
Reacting to the results of the Assembly elections in Orissa where BJD is set to form a government for the third consecutive term, Patnaik said that he was grateful to the people of the state for "showing tremendous generosity" to his party during the elections.
"I and my party will work with dedication and serve the people of Orissa," the Chief Minister said. He alleged that successive governments at the Centre have benn neglecting Orissa." I hope the next government will fulfil the just demands of Orissa," Patnaik said.
However, Patnaik said his party would certainly review the situation arising out of the UPA returning to power at the Centre.
To a question, he said BJD being a regional party, its focus was to bring benefits from the Centre to the state.
"BJD is a regional party and the people of Orissa have just demands from the central government. That is our focus. I hope the Centre will fulfill the demands of the State's people," he added.
