Centre takes up Rs 439 cr flood management project in WB
Baharampore (WB), Apr 15 (PTI) To tackle the recurring problem of floods in Murshidabad district''s Kandi area, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said the central government has taken up a project of Rs 439 crore for flood management.
"Floods are an ongoing problem here and for that we have taken up a master plan of Rs 739 core for Kandi sub-division," he said, adding that the work for building embankments will begin soon.
Under the project, bridges will also be build in flood- prone areas, he said.
Expressing serious concern over the ongoing protests in Andhra Pradesh, following the nod for the creation of a separate Telangana State, the Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D Raja said that the Centre must address the genuine concerns of the people and assure them that their interests will be duly protected.
