Stolen baby reunited with mother, two held
Mumbai, Sep 6 (PTI) A woman, who allegedly stole a baby from the CST Railway station and sold him for Rs 5,000, was held along with another woman, police said today.
Sheetal Chouhan (25), a resident of Kamatipura area, had yesterday stolen the three-month-old infant from a woman, believed to be mentally disturbed, and sold him to Reena Beda, they said.
Both were arrested while another accomplice Nachamma who helped her sell the baby boy was still absconding, they said.
According to police, Susheela, who hails from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh, was roaming at the station yesterday when a cop noticed her.
When inquired Susheela, who appeared mentally disturbed, told the cop that she was looking for her missing son.
After her claims, police checked the CCTV footage at the station and found that the baby was stolen by a woman.
An FIR was registered at CST railway police station.
Police got an information that a woman resembling Chouhan was found roaming near Baba Bismilla dargah at CST.
Accordingly, police rushed to the spot and nabbed her, who subsequently confessed of stealing the baby and selling him to Beda.
Subsequently, Beda was also apprehended, police said, adding that further probe was on.
The Delhi Police is likely to conduct more raids in connection with the IPL spot-fixing scandal. Teams of the Delhi Police's special cell have been sent to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Kolkata to conduct searches and track the money trail in the IPL spot-fixing case.
