Monsoon to hit Punjab, Haryana by July 1: MeT
Chandigarh, June 23 (PTI) The southwest monsoon is likely to hit Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh by July 1, MeT officials said here today.
"There is a high probability that monsoon will advance into Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh by July 1," Chandigarh''s Met department director Surender Paul said.
The monsoon this year is likely to be 97 per cent of its Long Period Average (LPA) over north-west India, comprising Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir K, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, some isolated places in Punjab and Haryana received showers, while there was drizzling in Chandigarh today.
Expressing serious concern over the ongoing protests in Andhra Pradesh, following the nod for the creation of a separate Telangana State, the Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D Raja said that the Centre must address the genuine concerns of the people and assure them that their interests will be duly protected.
