"What Gafoor has said was malicious and incorrect and I will soon take legal action against him for defaming me," Singh, former Additional Commissioner of Police (ATS), told PTI. In an interview to a magazine, Gafoor had said "a section of senior police officers refused to be on the ground and take on the terrorists.
Former Mumbai Police Commissioner has come out of the closet and in the process ruffled many feathers.
Gafoor, who was shunted out after his leadership against the Mumbai terror attackers was criticised heavily, has told a magazine that some of his top officers were not so eager to be on the ground during the attacks.
The magazine claims that he has named four officers. Gafoor who is now the DGP-Housing said K L Prasad who was then a Joint Commissioner of Police refused to come to the Trident and decided against hitting the roads. Additional Commissioners of Police -- Devena Bharti, K Venkatesham and Parambhir Singh -- were the other three.
But after triggering a controversy, Gafoor has backtracked and says he has been misquoted. Gafoor was severly criticised by the Ram Pradhan committee which probed how the security agencies responded to the terror attack.
Cops furious over Gafoor's allegations
Some of the police officers named by Gafoor expressed their indignation over their former boss's allegations. They said they do not understand what prompted the then city police commissioner Hassan Gafoor to make such remarks.
"I have submitted my report to the Pradhan Committee and I am sure it has been mentioned in their report submitted to the government. I know what I have done," said then Additional Commissioner of Police (Anti-Terrorism Squad) Parambir Singh, one of the officers named by Gafoor for not responding during the 26/11 terror attack.
Claiming that he was the first senior officer to have reached Girgaum Chowpatty after a police team had captured lone surviving gunman Ajmal Kasab, Singh said, "I was seen on several television channels at Hotel Taj and Oberoi. The whole nation must have seen me. I do not know how he (Gafoor) could make such a statement."

Apart from Singh, Gafoor had taken the names of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Deven Bharti, former Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) K L Prasad and former Additional Commissioner of Police (Southern Region) K Venkateshan.

This with respect to what Police officer said. The 26/11 attack is now very well revealed that there are more pakistan people living in our country were involved. Our intelligence department is so ridiculous that it has no clear information even though USA FBI has given all the information. How do expect that there is inside collusion for this kind of attack.
It is idiotic to think only 7-8 people has come offshore; it is clear from the way they attacked, it is clear that they have come in large numbers and melted into Mumbai. Where are they? They must be still around. In fact it looks, already many of them are living in the hotel rooms. Believe it or not, it is our force responsible for destruction of the hotel than the invaders for which our Govt (GIC) has to pay and paid. TATA did not loose any thing he got his hotel totally renovated, good na?
We cannot come into terms why the Muslims in pakistan hate Indians, and the same pakistanis in India also hate us all the while where they eat our food and drink our water, yet they hate us; a good example is that they don't want to sing Vande Mata ram': who is patriotic?, is Tharur the lousy minister. When we have people like him in our govt, I don't think we cannot have any security to our people. Mr Chidambaram has to wake up to reshuffle the whole Intelligent dept and find good people, otherwise our country will be like Chidambar like "sleeping beauty".
MR Gafoor was shown by the media personnel and ministers who visited the Taj firing site sitting in his LAL batti car and sleeping .
HE was literally woked up by some ministers and media personels when they saw its him.
Are we safe with such Mumbai police commissioner sleeping when the firing is going on or we want police officers like Kamte,Karkare and salaskar who didnt care about their lives and WENT INTO THE FIRE TO STOP IT SO THAT WE MUMBAIKARS WILL NOT BURN ..
IF Mr gafoor thinks he is old enough to run or even remove his pistol to protect us then he shud really go and rest on his farmhouse or if he doesnt have one then play on Farmville in facebook......
We dont require such cops who only comment we require real heroes.
