New twist to Karnataka tale, Gowda smells power

Both Deve Gowda and his son and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy have arrived in Delhi amidst strong speculations of an imminent tie-up.

For the records Kumaraswamy said he or the JD(S) had nothing to do with the BJP. But off the records and away from a hounding media, channels of communication have been established between the two parties.

This is not the first time that the parties are coming together. They formed the government after the JD(S) withdrew support to the setup led the Dharam Singh of the Congress. But the JD(S) and the BJP fell apart after Deve Gowda refused to hand over the chief minister's post to the BJP under a Jammu & Kashmir type formula of rotational CMs.

In politics, the enemy of an enemy can be your friend. The JD(S) and the BJP are at loggerheads, but the Gowdas hate the Reddy brothers because the present Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy was instrumental in filing a Rs 150 crore embezzlement case against Kumaraswamy when the latter was the CM. The logic of the JDS(S) is whoever is the enemy of the Reddys can be your friend. Even the BJP.
