The accident occurred between Bhiwandi and Kopar railway stations past midnight, Central Railway public relations officer A K Jain told PTI.

Two passengers-- Prabhaben (38) and Jaikishan Rohida (41)-- received minor injuries in the mishap and were administered first aid, he said.

An alternate train was arranged in which all passengers were accommodated. It left for Bangalore early this morning.

He said that although local train services have not been affected on the main and harbour line of the Central Railway, four trains connecting the Western and Central line have been cancelled and two long distance trains diverted.
