The blaze broke out in the depot in Sitapura industrial area about 20 km from the Jaipur city centre at 7.15 p.m. Oct 29.
"The FIR (first information report), was filed on Monday by Pratipal Singh, an employee of Genus Power Infrastructure Limited, a factory that is situated near the IOC depot," a police officer told IANS here Tuesday.
"We have lodged a case under Section 304 A, which relates to causing death by negligence, and other appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code," he said.
According to the management at Genus, the factory has suffered massive damages because of the fire.
"There were three casualties in our factory and 15 others were injured. It is difficult for us to assess the damage to the industrial unit as of now. We would only be able to do it once the fire is controlled in the depot," an official of the factory said.
Meanwhile the district administration has decided to shut educational institutes in Sitapura for the next eight days. The decision was taken as some of the buildings at the institutes were damaged.

this was due to gross negligence of the IOC. there had been a major leak from the valves since 4 pm on oct 29, 2009. the sirens had been sounded but area was not evacuated nor was the leak made public. the people around the depot reported smell of petrol to the police & fire brigade but nothing was done. the IOC officials came after 7 pm after a staff car was "sent" to bring them, which went to the homes of the concerned people one by one & collected them & reached depot at around 7.30 pm & the blast occurred as soon as they entered the inner campus.
for 3 & 1/2 hrs nothing was done nor was area evacuated nor were fire brigades called for. no foam spray or any other preventive measures adopted which should have happened automatically.
the IOC & the Governments (Central & State) are responsible for the tragedy & the loss of life & property which cannot be compensated by money only.
the courts should have taken the tragedy as PIL automatically & should have had issued directives the very next day.
it should be seen that such avoidable accidents should never happen in future.
why was IOC depot not away at a safe distance from other regular factories is a BIG question?
