Having gotten over a cause to party, India's IT city Bangalore is now fully loaded to'Party for a Cause.'
Organized by an NGO, Dream a Dream, Twestival or Twitter-Festival is part of the global initiative, being organized in 200 cities across the world. In India the three day event is scheduled for Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune.
Accordingly, the Twitter users will get together on Saturday, 12th Sept 2009 at Kyra in Indiranagar to raise funds for the underprivileged kids.
'Tweet, meet and give' is the slogan of Twestival this year. An Indian rock band-Swarathma, is expected to perform at a ticketed event. The proceeds from the show will be donated to charity.
Twestival takes place twice a year- once for a global cause in February and another one for a local cause in September.
The tweetering community of London had started the event by getting together at Trafalgar Square September last.
Back then they titled it 'tweeting up with a social conscience.'
The event that started with 30-40 people eventually saw a turnout of 250 people and was called Harvest Twestival. The festival reflects offline power of online social networking.
