Man held for "duping" businessman of 2 SUVs & Rs 35 lakh
New Delhi, Dec 7 (PTI) A 27-year-old man has been arrested on the charge of duping a Delhi-based businessman of his two Audi SUVs on the pretext of selling the vehicles at a reasonable price.
The anti Extortion Cell of Crime Branch on November 30 had apprehended Sumit Walia, alias Sunny Walia, who had allegedly duped the businessman of Rs 35 lakh promising him help in import of Porsche SUV, a police statement said.
"A complaint was lodged by Harshvardhan Reddy, a resident of Vasant Vihar against one Sumit Walia alleging that in December 2011, the accused took his two Audi A-7 cars on the pretext of selling it at reasonable price. Sumit Walia also promised him that he would help him import a new Porsche SUV through any Embassy in Delhi.
"Walia took Rs 35 lakh as advance from the complainant as import duty for the Porche Car. As a security, he gave two cheques of Rs 15 lakh and 20 lakh each to complainant," S B S Tyagi, DCP Crime and Railways, said in the statement. (more) PTI HMP
