Opposition flays Jharkhand govt for lack of quorum in assembly
Ranchi, Dec 5 (PTI) Opposition parties today flayed Jharkhand government for state assembly being adjourned today because of lack of quorum and said it showed the ruling dispensation''s lack of seriousness to address burning issues.
"I blame the Arjun Munda government for the lack of quorum. We want dignity. I demand resignation of the chief minister for this," Leader of the Opposition R P Singh of Congress told reporters here.
Adjournment of the house for lack of a quorum showed the non-seriousness of the government to address the pressing issues of the state, senior Congress leader and former minister Sarfaraj Ahmed said.
"The ruling MLAs preventing a quorum is a slap in the face of the government. This has happened for the first time in Jharkhand. Such a situation has never arisen even in the undivided Bihar assembly," Ahmed, who was Bihar PCC president in the 1990s, said.
Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric''s) Legislature Party leader Pradip Yadav said the government had turned the assembly into a house that only passed supplementary budgets and bills, adding that MLAs Local Area Development Funds had remained unused for past one year.
Following a dreadful washout in the four-State Assembly polls, a humbled Congress accepted its defeat and called for a much needed introspection to rethink their strategy ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
