IFFK inaugural to be spectacular
Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 3 (PTI) The inaugural ceremony of the 17th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) is going to be spectacular with the screening of Alfred Hitchcok''s silent film "The Ring".
Arrangements are on at the Kanakakkunnu palace entrance to create a model of Roosevelt theatre in Los Angeles where the film was premiered in the 1920s.
T K Rajeev Kumar, director, who is managing the inaugural event organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, said the screen at the Nisagandhi auditorium at the Kanakakkunnu palace was also being set in the old style where the stage curtain would be split before the movie starts.
"The Ring", a 72-minute silent movie, will be shown with the accompaniment of live orchestration of a new score created by the sextet led by British Jazz artiste Soweto Kinch.
The live orchestra is being arranged to celebrate the 75th year of the first talkie in Malayalam, "Balan" directed by S Nottani in 1938, said K Manoj Kumar, secretary of the Chalachitra academy.
The melodrama movie of Hitchcock revolves around the plot of boxing. Jack E Cox is the cinematographer of the movie for which Hitchcock himself penned the script.
The Delhi Police is likely to conduct more raids in connection with the IPL spot-fixing scandal. Teams of the Delhi Police's special cell have been sent to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Kolkata to conduct searches and track the money trail in the IPL spot-fixing case.
