Four dreaded Maoists nabbed
Bijapur Police Superintendent Prashant Agrawal said: "Three Maoist guerrillas were apprehended from Nemed weekly market while they were on a recce. One ultra was nabbed from Bijapur bus stand on Tuesday evening."
According to police, the Maoists have been identified as Podiyami Paso, Kawasi Sukhram and Podiyami Budhram, all residents of Kachraram village under Toyanar police circle. The Maoist arrested from Bijapur bus stand is Jebe Lachchu, son of Lakshmaiyya of Rawapalli village under Madded thana, police said.
All four Maoists were involved in crimes like murder, attempt to murder, arson, bomb blasts and attacking police teams, and were wanted for a long time. Bijapur has been worst hit by Maoist insurgency where 19 people, including adolescents, were killed by security forces on June 28. The incident evoked nationwide condemnation against paramilitary forces deployed in Bastar region.
Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed 150.92 points down to stand at 20,708.94. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 50.50 points down to stand at 6,166.65. Wockhardt and Adani Ports were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 9.27 % and 5.28%.
