Semi-naked women danced at Silvio Berlusconi's 'Bunga Bunga' parties: Journalist
London: A TV journalist has told a court that she saw semi-naked girls dancing at former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's infamous 'Bunga Bunga' parties. Silvia Trevaini also said the 76-year-old politician gifted her 800,000 euros in just two years as her "career had been affected," Sky News reported. It emerged that the 29-year-old was employed with one of the media tycoon's websites.
Trevaini gave evidence in the case of three people accused of obtaining women for the politician's parties, which he threw at his villa and which prosecutors said were characterised by semi-naked women being paid to attend. She said that she had seen regional councillor Nicole Minetti dressed as if she was a Bagaglino (dancing girl show); Minetti was wearing a short top and mini skirt and that other women were dressed similarly.
Trevaini explained that she met Berlusconi in 2006 and started working for his Mediaset TV empire shortly afterwards, receiving a salary of 2,500 euros a month. She said that in 2007, she received 290,000 euros from him to buy a house and then in 2009 he gave her 400,000 euros to buy another house after she sold the first one. Trevaini added that the same year she also received two bank transfers of 40,000 and 80,000 euros as well as an Audi. In total she got 810,000 euros.
Reacting on the rumours that Congress may name Unique Identification Authority of India Chairman, Nandan Nilekani as its candidate for Prime Minister, JD(U) Leader Shivanand Tiwari said the move could be suicidal for the party.
