Marc Jacobs to replace John Galliano?

London, Aug 14 (PTI) It seems John Galliano''s position at Dior will soon be occupied because Marc Jacobs is reportedly being considered to fill the vacancy.

Galliano was sacked from the top post after he was found guilty of making anti-semitic rants in a drunken state.

Jacobs, who is the head designer for Marc Jacobs and the creative director of the French design house Louis Vuitton, is running ahead of many designers for the top spot at Dior.

It is learnt that Bernard Arnault, who is the chairman of LHVH, the parent company of Dior, is considering Jacobs as a replacement for the sacked designer, reported Femalefirst.

"The two have met often in recent weeks to discuss the matter. Jacobs, the current creative director of Louis Vuitton, renewed his contract with LVMH in January - and it is possible for him to continue in his current position even if he takes over Dior," said a source.

Fashion insiders find it highly unlikely that Jacobs would helm both brands.

"More likely, however, is that he''ll end up choosing between one of two. Arnault would prefer him to go to Dior - as the billionaire sees it; Jacobs'' image will only be good for the fashion house, which was considerably shaken by the Galliano scandal," added the source.

The 48-year-old designer had previously denied taking up the job and said, "I haven''t been asked." PTI MBY
