A US Army officer identified as Major Malik Nadal al-Hasan opened fire on a base in Texas Thursday, killing 11 people before being shot to death by the police. FOX News reported al-Hasan was about to deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan. He was believed to be 39 or 40 years old, CNN said. The Army also apprehended two other soldiers suspected in what appears to be the worst mass shooting at a U.S. military base.
Authorities identified the suspected gunman as Major Nidal Malik Hasan, who had treated soldiers wounded in foreign wars preparing for foreign deployment at the post.
"Our investigation is ongoing but preliminary reports indicate that there was a single shooter," Lieutenant-General Robert Cone, Fort Hood's commanding officer, told a news conference. "The shooter is not dead but in custody in stable condition."
Cone said the suspect had been shot multiple times. He previously said the suspect was killed by police officers during the attack at the biggest military facility in the world.
@ Ganesh, Raj.........Happy to know there are people in this column who see things in a broader attitude. In fact, there are lot of people in our nation who love others irrespective of religion. When we fight for religion, the ultimate loss is for humanity, becos when all religions teach us to love others, and when none of us do that, and just fight - who else fails here, its not religion, we ourselves make our life miserable.
Now, as Raj said, there is some western policies being implemented everywhere. Yesterday the East India Company came here and looted us, and today its in some other form, but more dreadful. Just think, for example, some extremist Hindus claim Islam is the cause of every problems. Now let me bring to your attention one thing - If we look our culture, especially the youths, aren't we blindly following the dirty, filthy western culture of free sex? Aren't we victims of one or the other form of sex trade?. Yesterday, no matter which religion, we could marry anyone without fear - we know thats what Hindustani culture is........but today its not possible. When we fight with each other, we forget that we have already started losing the basic and greatest qualities that Indian culture has given us. Actually we are feeling shame to show to the outer world, that our culture is GREAT. How can just because the western world is more developed, everything including our culture goes to the waste bucket? Seriously THINK - We are no longer fit to claim that we belong to one of the greatest cilvilizations on earth. Now tell, is Islam the real threat or the colonial powers?
So I request all the Indians who love our culture and humanity to unite irrespective of your religion. Follow your religion, but respect others too. If we start to accept each other, we can work together to make our country the strongest and greatest in the world. Lets make our country free from all colonial powers and celebrate independence again

regarding the planes hitting the twin towers we all saw it on tv. but were they really passenger planes. look closely if you have the videos, there are laser guided missiles attached to the belly of the planes, how can a passenger plane take off with these things.
