Models will sashay down catwalks for four days, flaunting the latest creations by local designers in the nuclear-armed Muslim nation, where most women cover up and observe varying degrees of Islamic dress.
"Our fashion week starts today and will continue till Saturday," said Tehmina Khaled, spokeswoman of Fashion Pakistan, which organises the event.
"The situation was so painful in the country that we postponed it for three weeks," she told AFP, referring to a spate of deadly attacks blamed on Taliban militants in which more than 340 people died in October and November.
Islamist extremism has plagued Pakistan for years.

Hello my thinking,
If worshipping Idols is unscientific then how about wearing burka ,marrying five wives & having endless number of children when the countries population is soaring,why hate pigs when it is just like any other animal, why not allowing women and men together in the mosque.If you have wisdom to say that b'cos Idols dont speak u should not worship, then tell me whether Allah came and spoke to you?.If you are so scientific then how can u believe that Allah made flower out of fire.Prophet(peace be upon him) has preached certain things which were suitable at that period and suitable to particular race(arabs).He suggested women to wear Hijab(burqa) to protect from Arab men who were(are) like animals & they crave for sex.Marrying five women was b'cos there was shortage of men and there were lot of widows who were not been taken care.You guys try to follow these things(for your convenience) even when u live in america and also **** around the white women and call it islamic.Idols may be piece of stones but they are reminiscent of forefathers which is especially placed over their graves (even christians do that) and all human beings have to worship their fore fathers and the mother nature.
I think Allah has to come back and tell u guys again.

Once Prophet Ibrahim also known as Khaliullah (friend of Allah) had a father named Azar, he worshipped idols. One day he went to his father and asked “How can you pray to a piece of stone?” Then Azar got really angry and warned Ibrahim not to ask those questions. Ibrahim felt sorry for his people.
One day Ibrahim got an idea, one night people were celebrating a festival, but Ibrahim went to the temple where all he idols were kept. He asked “How do you do?” There was no reply. Then he got a club or an axe and broke all of the idols except for the biggest one, which he put the axe around his neck.
After the festival people went to pray at the temple, they were furious when they saw what happened to the idols. They asked Ibrahim, “Did you do this?” He replied, “Why don’t you ask the idols.” “But Ibrahim you know that the idols that can’t speak or hear.” Ibrahim replied, “Then why do you worship something that doesn’t speak or hear?” people became outrageous, so they prepared a fire for him. Allah favored Ibrahim because he did the right thing. So Ibrahim was in the fire for 40 days but Allah made it feel like he was surrounded by flowers.
