Delhi CM meets Shinde, refuses to comment on Ram Singh's suicide case
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit met Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde after Ram Singh, one of the key accused in the December 16 gang-rape case, committed suicide.
The chief minister refused to comment on Ram Singh's suicide. "It would be wrong to comment on this incident until the magisterial level enquiry is not over," Dikshit told media here. "Ram Singh was committed suicide in Tihar jail. Magisterial enquiry will automatically come around. A post-mortem of the body is already under way. And, then when the inquiry reports comes up, then appropriate action will be taken," she added.
She further said she did not discuss the case with Home Minister, but only informed him about the death of the main accused in the Delhi gangrape case. Delhi gang-rape main accused Ram Singh committed suicide today around 5 a.m. by hanging himself inside jail number 3 of Tihar Jail.
Singh, who was to be produced before court today for its daily hearing, was rushed to the jail hospital where he was declared brought dead.
