BJP says Congress fears Lokpal

New Delhi: With the war of words between Team Anna and the ruling Congress Party over the passage of a strong and effective Lokpal Bill intensifying, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday asked the UPA Government not to attack the civil society activists, who are crusading against corruption.


Hazare to start Maharashtra tour for Lokayukta bill

BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi asked the government to explain its stand on the anti-graft bill.

"The government along with its battalion of ministers should not fight the civil society members, who are crusading against corruption. If they formulate the Lokpal Bill, the civil society will itself be quiet and not protest," said Naqvi "Why is the Congress scared of Lokpal?" he asked.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister''s Office (PMO) V. Narayanasamy earlier today expressed his concern over a comment made by Team Anna member and former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Kiran Bedi, where she dubbed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh a modern-day Dhritarashtra.

He advised Kiran Bedi to restrain herself from making personal comments.
