With a loud moo and a boom, a build-up of methane gas from a herd of flatulent cows has caused an explosion on a farm in Rasdorf, Germany. The concentration of the gas emitted by a group of around 90 cows has led to the damage of the roof of their cow shed, leaving one of the animals injured. A static electric charge is said to have caused the gas to explode with flashes of flames. Methane, a potent greenhouse gas, emitted by cows can reach up to 500 litres a day, a problem that is believed to contribute to global warming.
