Southern China's current record-breaking heatwave has prompted a surge for all the pools, lakes and air con the locals can get their hands on.

But spare a thought for the animals, covered in all that extra hair - they need a break too.

Just like this giant panda, who, after struggling with the scorching 37°C (98.6°F)  temperatures, has got the right idea by commanding a giant ice block to cool off in Whuan zoo, Hubei province.
