Throughout 2012, Twitter often found itself not just reporting the news but making it. From Twitter's own review of the year, we've selected 10 events in which the social networking website played a key role. We start with the US presidential election. Before delivering his formal victory speech on the night of 6 November 2012, Barack Obama announced his re-election on Twitter. "We're all in this together," he tweeted. "That's how we campaigned, and that's who we are. Thank you." His message was retweeted over 150,000 times.
