Tehelka's Tarun Tejpal has been charged with raping and sexually harassing a junior colleague. The once-acclaimed investigative journalist now says he is being framed because of political vendetta. We take a look at bosses who misused their position and got too close to their employees
The chargesheet has been filed in the Tarun Tejpal case, charging the Tehelka founder with rape and sexual harassment. He has also been charged with outraging the modesty of a woman. If proven guilty, Tejpal could face more than seven years in prison. The 2,684-page chargesheet examined 152 witnesses including the victim, staff of Tehelka magazine and the investigating officer in the case. The chargesheet mentions that there are enough statements on record to prove that Tejpal has admitted the commission of rape, sexual harassment and outraging the modesty of the victim. Goa Police claim in the chargesheet that there is sufficient evidence available in the form of documents and statements on record to show that Tejpal had been evading police after commission of crime.
Tejpal now alleges that he is being framed due to "political vendetta" and is seeking bail.
He was arrested in November last year after a junior colleague complained that he raped her.
