FIR lodged against man, parents for demanding dowry
In a shocking case, Jagjit Singh Kohli of Chandigarh made an objectionable video of his wife Jasleen and threatened to put it on the internet if she did not cough up enough dowry.
Jasleen is the daughter of Punjab's former secretary for science and technology, Avinash Singh Chhatwal. She has now filed an FIR lodged at Sector-39 police station against her husband Jagjit Singh Kohli, his father Daljit Singh and mother Harjit Kaur for dowry-related harassment.
Jasleen has also alleged that she was wrongfully confined and had made a highly objectionable video involving her and told her that the same would be released on the internet.
It may be recalled that Chhatwal, a 1986-batch IAS officer, had committed suicide on October 21, 2008, at his official residence in Sector 39 following Jasleen's wedding, which, sources said, had taken place against his wishes.
