Micorsoft's new Xbox One console to be launched on November 22
The new Microsoft Xbox One console will launch in 13 launch markets on November 22 – Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK and USA. More markets will follow in 2014.
The console’s price will be $499 in the US.
The speed of the main processor in the console has also been boosted from the previously announced 1.6GHz to 1.75GHZ, roughly a 10 percent increase in performance.
The timing of the launch will mean it beats the rival Sony PlayStation 4 to the shops in most of the world’s biggest markets by one week, apart from the US, where the PS4 will be available on 15 November.
“First, we hit an important milestone as we began full production of the Xbox One console recently, said Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi.
“The culmination of many years of listening to you, our fans, developing innovative technology, and partnering with the best game and entertainment partners in the industry has brought us to this point. There is still a lot more work to do, but the teams are making excellent progress and are focused on launch.”
The company recently revealed that European gamers who pre-ordered the console will get a free copy of FIFA14, the latest version of the long-running soccer game. FIFA 14 Ultimate Team – featuring legends like Freddie Ljungberg and Ruud Gullit – will only be available on Xbox One.
Xbox One only games will include Halo, Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome and Forza Motorsport 5, while new digital content from titles like coming Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 will arrive on the Xbox One first.
Xbox One, like MSN, is produced by Microsoft.
