Bangalore: A joint venture of the state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Rolls-Royce of Britain, International Aerospace Manufacturing Ltd (IAML) unveiled its production facility here Friday.
Set up with an investment of Rs 135 crore, the 50:50 venture will produce components for the Trent family of aero engines and compressor parts for marine and energy gas turbines. "The production facility incorporates the latest manufacturing techniques of Rolls-Royce and has created jobs for about 100 Indian engineers," HAL managing director K. Naresh Babu said on the occasion.
The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with modern machine tools, computerised maintenance management systems, metal spray booths and non-destructive testing lines. "The venture will help in indigenising production of aero engines and developing a robust supply chain management system to nurture 225 small and medium enterprises as vendors," HAL chairman R.K.
