Gurnani tipped to be CEO of Mahindra Satyam-TechM combine
Mr C.P. Gurnani, Chief Executive Officer of Mahindra Satyam, is tipped to become the CEO of the $2.4-billion combined Mahindra Satyam-Tech Mahindra. Mr Vasanth Krishnan, Chief Financial Officer of Mahindra Satyam, may go back to the corporate headquarters of the Mahindras from where he came to replace Mr Durgashankar as CFO of the fraud-hit firm.
Mr Vineet Nayyar will take over as Executive Chairman of the entity.
Mr Hari T, Chief People's Officer and Chief Marketing Officer, might retain responsibilities in the new dispensation as well. And Mr Sonjoy Anand, CFO of Tech Mahindra, might be taken as CFO of the combine.
"In all likelihood, Mr Gurnani will stay as the CEO of the merged entity. He held a key role in stabilising the company and improving the image of the firm globally after customers lost confidence on the firm following the scam," a senior executive of the firm told Business Line.
He reminded that the two firms have been working together on joint go-to-market strategy ever since Mahindras bought Satyam Computers.
The management is contemplating to expand the scope of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the merged entity by allocating different roles to the two CTOs.
The thinking in management is that it should not upset the apple cart by disturbing the way various verticals are functioning in the two companies. Of the two, Mahindra Satyam is a leader in all other verticals barring telecom where Tech Mahindra has mastery.
"Almost all the vertical heads in Mahindra Satyam will stay," he said.
Mr Karthikeyan Natarajan, Global Head of Engineering Services, Mr Srinivasa Rao, Vice-President and Global Head (Oracle Practice), Mr Manish Mehta, Chief Solutions Officer (Verticals) and Global Head (Consulting and Enterprise Solutions), Mr Sriram Papaniý: Senior Vice-President and Global Head (Enterprise Business Solutions) and some other top executives at the level of vertical heads are likely to stay.
