The expanded facility, located in Bangalore, will be inaugurated on Thursday and will enable the company to meet the growing need for niche services in the aerospace, automotive and energy sectors, globally and in India, according to a company press release. The company is all set to declare its first quarter results for FY11 on Thursday.
Assystem India is the wholly owned subsidiary of Assystem, a leading group in engineering consultancy both in the aerospace and the nuclear industry in Europe, supporting key programmes such as the A380 and new genertion power plants in Europe and China.
"We are bringing our first-class expertise to Indian customers, leveraging our growing presence locally. Today, Assystem India primarily addresses the needs of our global customers and should be able to provide leading companies in India with the same unmatched skills and experience," says David Bradley, Executive Vice President and Member of the Management Board of Assystem.
In fact, the staff in the Bangalore centre were recently sent to France for training. Assystem employees in European countries too make a trip to India and thereby employ a "combined global team" for work on their projects, said J Munirathnam, managing director, Assystem India. "We have substantial expansion plans as the Indian market is strategically very important to us," he said.
The Bangalore centre was first set up in 2003 as a captive unit. In 2005, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Assystem. It was only after the recession in 2009 that the company seriously began to look for talent. "We did not fire anyone, but we did not hire anyone either," Munirathnam said. "Recession did affect the number of projects that we were working on. But, it probably made us more careful," he added.
