Bajaj Auto scrip hits record high as Dec sales up 13 pc
Mumbai, Jan 2 (PTI) Bajaj Auto scrip today climbed over 3 per cent to hit a record high after the company reported 13.14 per cent rise in motorcycle sales in December 2012.
Buoyed by the healthy sales number, shares of the country''s second largest two wheeler maker gained 3.6 per cent to touch a record high of Rs 2,214 on the BSE during the day.
It finally ended at Rs 2,202.60, up 3.07 per cent.
The scrip was top performer among the 30-share Sensex.
On NSE, the stock settled at Rs 2,209.90, up 3.66 per cent from its previous close.
Bajaj Auto today reported 13.14 per cent rise in motorcycle sales at 2,98,350 units in December 2012.
The company had sold 2,63,699 units in the corresponding month previous year, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said in a statement.
BAL said exports increased by 5.27 per cent during the month at 1,26,016 units compared to 1,19,708 units in December 2011, it added.
In the broader market, the Sensex rose 133.43 points, or 0.68 per cent, today.
Minister of Defence and National Security of the Republic of Maldives, Mohamed Nazim, arrived in India with an aim to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation between the two nations.
