Port creates national record in handling hardwood logs

Tuticorin, Dec 7 (PTI) The VO Chidambaranar Port, formerly Tuticorin Port, created a national record in handling of Hardwood Logs earlier this week.

A quantity of 10,867 tonnes of Hardwood logs of 11,530 ''MCBM'' (Malaysian cubic metre), was discharged from the vessel ''MV Tharinee Naree'' on December 5 the highest ever achieved in a single day in the major Ports of the country.
The port therby broke its own record achieved on October 4 by handling 8,859 tonnes of Hardwood timber discharged from the ''Glorious Sentosa'', a port release said.

Mitigating Poverty in Western Rajasthan (MPOWER) project is funded by International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and managed by the Rajasthan government.
