Amazon India launches new store for mobiles and cameras
Mumbai: Amazon.in, the world's largest online retailer, is all set to fight it out in India's burgeoning ecommerce market. The US-based marketplace cum etailer, that entered the country last month with books and music, has extended its service with the launch mobiles and accessories, cameras and Portable Media Players. It has over 20, 000 electronic products on its platform.
With this announcement there are now six categories of products on www.amazon.in including Books, Movies and TV shows and the Kindle family of E-readers, ebooks and Kindle Fire tablets.
Commenting on the launch, Amit Agarwal, Vice President and Country Manager, Amazon India, said “Customers have been asking us to bring the Amazon experience to electronic products in India. We are very excited to open our marketplace to sellers in these popular categories and offer broad selection, low prices, great convenience, and reliable delivery to shoppers across India.”
The new stores will feature a full range of popular products and brands: everything from the latest mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, camcorders, and MP3 players to lenses, tripods, and headsets, to cases & covers, camera bags, headphones and other accessories from leading brands like Nokia, HTC, Micromax, Blackberry, Samsung, Sennheiser, Panasonic, Sony, Canon and Nikon among others.
RBI Chief Raghuram Rajan stated that more economic data is needed to be confident that economic growth is picking up, although he added that the benefits to exports from the Rupee's fall is yet to kick in.
