New Delhi, Feb 1 (PTI) A poem on doubling the Indian farm production using rhymes to good effect took everyone, including President Pranab Mukherjee and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, by pleasant surprise at a function here.
"While agriculture plods along
The other sectors have been strong.
Our service sector is the star.
And industry has come quite far.
Although right now it''s been laid low,
Thanks to a crippling double blow....." read the poem by Godrej Agrovet Chairman Nadir Godrej.
Godrej read out the poem while delivering the key note address at the event organised by Crop Care Foundation of India.
As Godrej walked back to his chair completing reading the poem, the President shook hands with him.
Besides the President and the Agriculture Minister, Srikant Kumar Jena, Minister of State for Fertiliser, and Water Resources Minister Harish Rawat, who sought a copy of the poem, were also present at the function.
Pawar praised the poet in Godrej: "I know that he (Godrej) is a successful businessman but I was not aware he was a poet, too. In his poetic speech, he has shown how he can be effective to his own products."
Pawar congratulated Godrej for highlighting poultry and dairy sector in his poem.
